The Falcons Lose A Hard Fought Battle In The Rematch With University of Maine- Fort Kent, 3-0

Boston, MA- The weather cleared up this afternoon for the Women's Soccer contest against University of Maine-Fort Kent (7-1-1), but the Falcons (3-8-1) came up short in front of the Homecoming crowd, 3-0. This was second time the Falcons have faced the Bengals, last time being a 9-0 loss.  Today's game was very competitive as both teams had numerous opportunities to score throughout the game.

Fort Kent got on the board first in the 16th minute as there was a scramble in front of the net that the Bengals forward Tolu Oyeniyi (Calgary, Alberta Canada) was able to get her foot on and put in the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.  Ali Mosdale (Marlborough, CT) and the offense had their best opportunity of the half to score when she had a tremendous throw-in placed in front of the net, but Bengals keeper Valentina Green (Mission Viejo, CA) was able to grab it out of the air, keeping her team ahead 1-0. The score remained knotted at 1-0 heading into halftime.

The Bengals tacked on to their lead five minutes into the half as they earned their fourth corner kick of the game.  Hope Shea (Caribou, Maine) took the kick and it somehow made it across the line for the goal to take the 2-0 lead.  Just two minutes later the Falcons earned two corner kicks within 30 seconds and a cross by Mosdale came across the goal that Sarah Backholm (Sutton, MA) was able to get a head on, but it went right of the post.  Just minutes later Chelsea Browne (Milford, MA) had a header of her own, but it went wide left.  The Bengals made their way back down the field after Browne's header and Mili Alvarez (Palm Beach Gardens, FL) took it down the right side of the field and thread the defense to find Oyeniyi who was able to beat Falcons keeper Alexandra Colvin (Longmont, CO) for the 3-0 lead.  Fisher had three more shots, including two from Will Memeus (Everett, MA), but she couldn't find the back of the net and the Bengals held on for the 3-0 win.  Colvin had a great game in between the posts as she had 10 saves on the afternoon to keep her team within reach.

Fisher will have the week off and will head back on the road to take on conference foe, Green Mountain, next Saturday at 10am.
