Falcons Nab Gators in Shutout

Hudson, NH- The Fisher Falcons (4-10-1) concluded their regular season last night with an action packed matchup against the Pine Manor Gators (2-11). After the some heavy rain flooded Pine Manors home fields the games were moved up to New Hampshire for an evening match between the Boston area schools.

The Falcons jumped into action quick with three corner kicks in the first three minutes of the game. While all three were never able to find the back of the net they did set the tone of the match early on. In the 18th minute of action, and seven shots, sophomore Will Memeus (Everett, MA) connected a pass from senior Alison Mosdale (Marlborough, CT) to Fisher up 1-0. Goal number 2 on the day came about 10 minutes later as fellow sophomore Grace Roach (Hutchinson, MN) netted one after a quick dish from freshman Carla DaSilva (Somerville, MA). As the final minutes of the first half ticked away seniors Mosdale and Sarah Backholm (Sutton, MA) connected to extend the lead to three goals.

The start of the second half found the Falcons offensive keeping up their pressure, forcing the Gators GK Kristina Guinta into a save less than two minutes into the half. Roach, with an assist already on the day, single handedly snuck a ball pass the keeper in the 58th minute. Fisher never sat back, firing seven shots on Pine Manor's defense over the next 15 minutes. The high intensity finally found success with another senior combo goal, this time a second goal from Mosdale after a pass from Darien Lavino (Tewksbury, MA) found the gaps in the defense. Over the final 10 minutes of the game Memeus netted two further goals to complete the hat trick on the night with the assistance of Mosale to cap off the final goal of the regular season for the Falcons. Fisher's freshman goalkeeper Alexandra Colvin (Longmont, CO) and her defensive line closed out the regular season with their first shutout in the 7-0 victory.

Fisher closes out their season on Saturday in Poultney, VT as they take on Green Mountain College at 12pm for the NIAC Championship. This will be the third match up for the teams this season, with each team having claimed the victory at home.
