Women's Soccer Falls To The Cazenovia Wildcats

Cazenovia, NY- The Women's Soccer team have hit a tough skid on the schedule as they now have lost five straight since opening up their season with a win over Yeshiva University. Unfortunately they could not end the losing streak Wednesday evening, falling to the Cazenovia Wildcats 4-0. With the loss, the Falcons are now 1-5 this season, while the Wildcats improved to 3-3.

The Falcons did not have an answer for the Wildcats offense which was led by Dimetria McIntyre who notched three goals in the match, her second time this season scoring three goals in a match. Falcons keeper Olivia Handy (La Verne, CA) continued to make strong stops for her team, collecting another 15 saves on the day, but it was not enough as the Wildcats outshot the visitors 27-7. McIntyre scored the first goal of the game as she would receive a pass from senior Cassidy Rattray and would send a shot past the Falcons keeper. Just over a minute later freshman Regan Calcara would send a thru pass past the Falcon's defense to a sprinting McIntyre who would finished it for the score to make it 2-0 at the 29:52 mark. Rattray would score the Wildcats third goal of the first half as she scored off a cross from freshman Lauren Bianchi to make it 3-0. Grace Roach (Hutchinson, MN) had a scoring chance just before halftime but her shot went high and the score would remain 3-0 at the break.

McIntyre would score the games last goal with 27 minutes left on the clock, finding her way open to blast a shot to make it 4-0. Carla DaSilva (Somerville, MA) tried to put the Falcons on the board with less than a minute remaining but Wildcats keeper Caitlin Kellher made the save to help her team earn the shutout.

Fisher was led offensively by Meghan Menzel (Big Rock, IL), Will Memeus (Everett, MA) and Roach who all notched two shots a piece in the losing effort. Handy was handed her third straight loss, despite making 44 saves over that stretch.

The Falcons will look to right the ship as they play host to the Bryant and Stratton (Albany) Bobcats who are 0-5 this season. The game is this slated for a 2:30pm start on Sunday at the Winsor School in Boston, MA.
