NEW LONDON, CONN. – Freshman Kelly Wallace (Hanover, Mass.) scored four goals however it was not enough as the Fisher College Women's Soccer team fell to Mitchell College, 6-5 in overtime on Wednesday afternoon. The loss dips the Falcons below .500 on the season while the Mariners earned their first win of the season.

Wallace, fresh off her Continental Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week award, took advantage of a Mitchell error in the 10th minute for the first goal of the contest. A failed clear ended up on the foot of the talented freshman on the left side of the box, where she buried her shot inside the near post from roughly 10 yards out.

The Mariners responded later in the half with three goals from Elon Johnson (Freeport, Bahamas) in a seven minute, 25 second span. Her first came in the 23rd minute when Fallon McGraw (Maple Shade, N.J.) brought the ball up field through the defense before leaving it off for Johnson, who launched a shot from outside the box for the equalizer. Johnson then supplied unassisted efforts in the 28th and 30th minutes to put Mitchell up 3-1.

Wallace and the Falcons tied the game with a pair of goals in the final four minutes of the first half. Freshman Angel Hoye (Apple Valley, Calif.) fed a long ball through the midfield that Wallace caught up to inside the box and tucked in the right corner of the net. She later tied the game at 3-3 with 15 seconds left on the clock, spinning off a defender and depositing a left-footed attempt inside the far post.

After Wallace and Johnson exchanged goals early in the second half, the Mariners went on top, 5-4, in the 77th minute when Francesca Zamarripa (Tampa, Fla.) fed Johnson for her fifth goal of the game. The lead lasted less than six minutes, however, as sophomore Wilnette Memeus (Everett, Mass.) found freshman Juliette Dominguez (Hesperia, Calif.) for the tying goal in the 83rd minute.

Looking to match Johnson, Wallace had two attempts at the go-ahead goal. With 6:20 remaining, Wallace was on the doorstep of the net but was denied by Mitchell keeper Gemma Landry (Lewiston, Maine). In the final minute of regulation, Wallace had a free kick opportunity, however, her shot from just outside the box sailed high over the cross bar.

In the extra time, Zamarripa set the stage for the golden goal as she dribbled past three defenders at the top of the box and hitting a shot of the post. Ileana Perez (San Antonio, Texas) was in the right place at the right time as she collected the rebound and chipped a shot over the fallen Falcon keeper from 10 yards out for the winner.

Freshman Olivia Leo (Dunmore, Pa.) started the game in goal for Fisher as she made four saves in 32 minutes of action. Classmate Ameilia Schaefer (Cherry Hill, N.J.) then finished the contest, collecting six saves on nine shots. Mitchell's Landry made the game-high 10 saves over the 94 minute affair.

Fisher (1-2-0 overall) will return to action this weekend as they travel to Northern Maine for a pair of games with the University of Maine-Fort Kent (Sat.) and the University of Maine-Presque Isle (Sun.).
