Women's Soccer: Falcons earn 1-1 draw at UMPI

(Presque Isle, Maine) The Fisher College Women's Soccer team tied University of Maine Presque Isle this afternoon 1-1. The tie sends the Falcons to 1-3-1 on the season. UMPI will bring their record to 1-1-2.

Most of the action for both teams was in the first half. Although the Falcons were off to a slow start in the first half, the offense picked up around the 43rd minute by sophomore Kelly Wallace (Hanover, Mass.) who had the only goal for the team. The defense was led by sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Leo (Dunmore, Mass.) who had 2 saves in the game.

Presque Isle's offense started strong in the start of the game when sophomore Rylee Kinney (Presque Isle, Me.) assisted junior Alexis Ireland (Howland, Me.) in the only goal in the 8th minute. The defense held strong for the remainder of the game for the Owls with senior Savannah Rodriguez (Presque Isle, Me.) as the goalkeeper having 9 saves in the game for UMPI.

Both teams will be back in action when they return to the field this week. Fisher will travel to Rivier University on Thursday for a 7pm start time. UMPI will also be traveling as they play Maine Fort Kent on Wednesday at 3pm.
