The Falcons swept the opening match of the day with set scores of 25-21, 25-12, and 25-13.

SVC junior Heidy Benitez (Tulare, Calif.) led the Mountaineers with seven kills while adding 13 digs to her line. Sophomore Sarah Billow(South Glens Falls, N.Y.) followed with six kills and 10 digs, and freshman Nikki Ramirez (West Covina, Calif.) had two kills to go along with her team-leading 17 digs. Bennington College freshman Kemly Derby (New York City, N.Y.) popped up 13 assists and six digs for the Mountaineers.

A kill from Benitez made it a 7-6 margin for Fisher early in the first, and points would be traded until the score was knotted at 18-18. FC took the next five before closing out the set, however, to take a lead in the match.

SVC freshman Gabby Rushia (Cohoes, N.Y.) landed an ace to help the Mountaineers tie it at 7-7 in the second frame, but the Falcons would go on an 8-1 surge for a sizable advantage they would carry to the win.

Fisher put up 11 unanswered points to start the third—taking a lead that would withstand a 5-0 run from the Mountaineers midway through the game. FC closed out the contest with a 5-1 spurt for the sweep.
