Women's Volleyball Comes Up Short Again In A Hard Fought Loss To SUNY-Delhi, 3-1

Chestnut Hill, MA- The Women's Volleyball team lost another heartbreaker today at a neutral site against a hard hitting SUNY-Delhi, 3-1.  The Falcons (0-2) got on the board first taking game one, 25-21.  This was their best game statistically as they earned 13 kills and had only four errors.  Chyna Carter (Avondale, AZ) led all players with 22 kills in the match, with seven coming in game 1 to help her team get on the board first.  Fisher came out firing in Game 2, grabbing an early 6-1 lead, but the Broncos (4-1), went on a 8-0 run to take back the lead 9-6.  From there it was a back and forth game but the Broncos edged the Falcons 25-23 to even the match up 1-1.

Looking to take back the momentum, and down 9-3 in 3rd set, Fisher answered back with 6 straight points tying it at 9, but Delhi took control with 5 straight of their own causing Coach Lau to call a time out down 15-10. The Broncos continued the pressure with 9 straight points taking the lead 18-10 and didn't look back taking Game 3, 25-19.

In Game 4, the Broncos continued the pressure and took a 16-11 lead, but the Falcons were relentless and battled back to within one forcing the Broncos to call time out with a 16-15 lead. The Falcons never gave up and did everything they could to force a Game 5, tying the game at 24-24 but SUNY-Delhi closed it out with the last two points winning 26-24. Kristen Maslanka (Pine Island, NY) led the way offensively for the Broncos with a team-high 17 kills while Taylor Tsatsis (Neponsit, NY) and Erica Prindle (Kingston, NY) combined for 49 assists.

Maura Lammers (Savannah, GA) was strong for the Falcons today with 19 kills in the match, while senior captain Natie Manalo (San Francisco, CA) led the team with 26 assists.  Both Periya Yath (Amherst, MA) and Lia Aime (Las Piedras, Puerto Rico) contributed defensively with a combined 34 digs.

The Falcons will look to earn their first win tomorrow against host Pine Manor as they have a doubleheader against the Gators at 1pm and 3pm.
