Catala and Lammers Combine For 27 Kills, But The Falcons Bow To The Saints, 3-1

Boston, MA- The Falcons (3-6) made the trip down the road to Fenway to take on the Emmanuel Saints (4-3) tonight, but took the loss in a well played match 3-1.  Fisher took an early lead in the first two sets, pulling ahead 3-0 in each.  However it was the Saints that took the first two sets by exact scores of 25-17.  After the Falcons took the lead in the first set, Emmanuel went on a 7-point run, making it 7-3.  Three consecutives kills from Yeryvel Catala (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) and Maura Lammers (Augusta, GA) got the Falcons within a point at 7-8 but that's as close as the Falcons would get as Emmanuel held the lead the rest of the way in the first set.  The second set played out nearly identical as Fisher took the lead 3-0, while Emmanuel countered with a 6-point run.  Again, Fisher could not overcome the pressure of the Saints and took the second set loss.  Down as many as eight points in the third set and Emmanuel looking for the sweep, Fisher fought their way back with six unanswered points to make it 15-18.  A service ace from Natie Manalo (San Francisco, CA) and three Saints errors capped off a 4-point run for the victory in set three, 26-24.  The last set was back and forth through the first half as each team held leads, but the Saints pulled away in the end capturing their 4th victory of the season, 25-19.

The Saints were led offensively by Casey Sheehan (Medway, MA) who had 10 kills and and 17 digs, while Katharine Journeay (Hampton, NH) contributed to the win with an impressive 31 digs.  Fisher was led offensively by the strong play from Catala and Lammers who combined for 27 kills while Lia Aime (Las Piedras, Puerto Rico) and Manalo combined for 29 assists and 25 digs.

Fisher will get a week off to rest as their next contest is next Thursday against Pine Manor at 7pm, a team who they have already beaten once this season.
