Volleyball Wins For The Fourth Time This Season Against The Pine Manor Gators

Chestnut Hill, MA- The women's volleyball team are now 8-6 on the year, which puts them two games over .500 for the first time this season as they took two matches tonight from Pine Manor College (0-12).  This is the fourth time the Falcons have defeated the Gators this season, with another match yet to come later this month.  Fisher swept each match 3-0 winning by scores of 25-14, 25-13, and 25-17 in the first match, and 25-6, 25-16, and 25-17 in the second.

Out of the gate it looked as though the match would be tougher than the previous meetings as Pine Manor jumped out to an early lead, 5-4.  However, a 7-point run led by Chyna Carter's (Avondale, AZ) service game put the Falcons back on top for good and would take the first game 25-14.  Game two was more Falcons offense as they quickly got out to a 5-0 lead. Pine Manor would get it within three at 8-5, but that's as close as they would get as Fisher finished with a 9-1 run to get a 2-0 match lead, winning 25-16.  The third set of the match was back and forth to start as again the Gators gained an early lead at 8-5.  But another 7-point run for the Falcons gave them back the lead at 14-10 and forced the Gators to call a time out.  Gators Nahalia Faurot did all she could to keep her team in the match, as they rallied from nine points down to get to 22-17, but the Falcons closed out the match with a Lia Aime (Las Piedras, Puerto Rico) ace to win 25-17.

The Falcons dominance continued into the night cap as they took Game 1 of the doubleheader 25-6, and led the entire match except in the third set when they were down just one point at 1-0.  Fisher was led offensively tonight by outside hitters Maura Lammers (Augusta, GA) and Yeryvel Catala (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) who had a combined 45 kills, 22 service aces, and 21 digs.  The setting game was led as always by Natie Manalo (San Francisco, CA) and Aime who did their job with a combined 60 assists and 23 digs.

Fisher volleyball will host their first home game since September 13th this Saturday when Fitchburg State University comes to town for a 1pm start.
