The Falcons Earn Their 10th Win With A Victory Over The Anna Maria Amcats

Paxton, MA- The women's volleyball team in just its second season has already matched last year's win total with 10, as they take care of business tonight against the Anna Maria Amcats, 3-0.  The Falcons (10-8) won it straight sets (25-23, 25-16, 25-11) and now have won seven of their last nine contests.

Fisher jumped out to an early lead as Natie Manalo (San Francisco, CA) continued her dominance in the serving game as she added another two service aces to her season total of 44 on the season to make it 6-1. But the Amcats battled back and took the lead 9-8 and it was back and forth the rest of the set with four different lead changes.  The Amcats got up as many as two at 21-19 forcing Coach Lau to call time out.  This sparked the Falcons as they earned five straight points taking back the lead 24-22 and forcing Anna Maria to use a time out. Fisher closed it out on a service error to take Game 1, 25-23.

In Game 2, the Falcons got behind early as Taylor Hoffstedt paced her team with two kills early on to give the Amcats 6-4 advantage.  The Amcats did all they could to bounce back with a win, but the Falcons pressure was too much as they finished off the game with a 10-3 run to take it 25-16.  Maura Lammers (Augusta, GA) led the way offensively in Game 2 as she had six kills to help her team get the win.

The Amcats again did all they could to stay alive in Game 3 to push it to a 4th, as they took another early lead to start 6-5.  That would be the last time that the Falcons trailed for the day as they finished off the set with a 20-5 run for the win.  Fisher played their best in the last frame as they only had three errors as a team. Along with Lammers, Yeryvel Catala (Gurabo, PR), Chyna Carter (Avondale, AZ) and Periya Yath (Amherst, MA) were strong at the net as they combined for the team's 39 kills. Lammers and Manalo also led the way defensively as they combined for 27 digs.  Lia Aime (Las Piedras, PR) did her job setting as she tacked on another 21 assists to bring her season total to 169.

Fisher will look to break the school record for wins as they play host to Mass Maritime this Friday evening at 7pm at the Winsor School to kick off Homecoming weekend.
