Falcons Volleyball Makes It Four Straight With A Sweep Over The Bison, 3-0

Boston, MA- The Women's Volleyball team continue their historic season with another sweep, this time over the visiting Nichols College Bison.  This makes four wins in a row to bring their season record to 13-8, already surpassing last year's season record of 10 wins.

The first set stayed very close the entire way, with no team leading more than two through the first 35 points scored. Nichols (4-18) did not relinquish the lead until the Falcons (13-8) finally broke through and took it back at 18-17 on a kill from Chyna Carter (Avondale, AZ) from Natie Manalo (San Francisco, CA), a lead they would not lose the rest of the set.  Four more kills from the Fisher offense, and four assists from Lia Aime (Las Piedras, Puerto Rico) shut the door on the Bisons as they took Game 1, 25-22.

The Falcons put the pressure on the Bisons early in the second set as they led by as many as six at 15-9, as Carter added another four kills to lead her team.  But the Bisons battled their way back with six straight points, led by the serving of Sophie Czerepica (Malden, MA) to tie the game at 15-15.  The Falcons quickly responded with six straight points of their own with two hard kills from Yeryvel Catala (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) to put them up for good as they finished off the second set 25-20.

Another six-point run for Nichols started out Set 3 putting the Falcons in an early hole.  However, Fisher responded with five straight points led by the serving of Periya Yath (Amherst, MA) who blasted two service aces to bring her team back 6-5.  The two teams traded points for the next ten rallies, as Falcons took the lead back at 13-12.  The Falcons then scored four straight points to take the lead 18-13, and did not look back from there as they finished off the Bisons, 25-22.

Carter and Catala combined for 25 kills tonight to lead the offense at the net, while adding eight digs a piece.  Manalo and Aime led the way in the set game with 25 assists and 11 digs combined.  The Falcons only get one night's rest and will be back on the road tomorrow against the Lesley Lynx at 1:00pm, a team they beat 3-0 earlier this year.
