Volleyball Earn A Split This Afternoon Against Lesley and Eastern Nazarene

Quincy, MA - The Women's Volleyball team earned their 14th win this afternoon against Lesley University (5-17), sweeping the Lynx 3-0 (25-11, 25-23, 25-13). However they couldn't get the doubleheader sweep as they ran into a tough Eastern Nazarene Lions team that has now 17 games this season.

In the first match, the Falcons (14-9) were led by Yeryvel Catala (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) who had 13 of the team's 29 kills on the afternoon and had double-digit kills for five straight games.  Senior captain Natie Manalo (San Francisco, CA) and sophomore Lia Aime (Las Piedras, Puerto Rico) led the way defensively as they both had 11 digs each.  Aime also served well against the Lynx, earning six aces on the afternoon to help her team get the sweep, 3-0. The Falcons did not trail in the first set, winning easily, however the Lynx pushed back in Set 2, leading for most of the set and by as many as six, at 16-10.  But the Falcons answered with seven straight points, led by Aime's service aces and went on to win 25-23.  In Set 3, the Falcons closed the door and again did not trail and finished off the Lynx, 25-13.

The Lions proved to be a much harder task as the Falcons did not have a lead in the first two sets, falling 25-14 and 25-22.  But the Falcons responded in Set 3 and jumped out to a 5-0 lead forcing the Lions to call a time out. The Lions responded and got back the five and more as they took the lead 6-5.  That would be the last time Fisher would lead, as Eastern Nazarene went on to take the 3-0 win, 25-17.

Maura Lammers (Augusta, GA) tacked on 12 kills for the Falcons in the second game, while Aime had an astounding 21 assists to lead the set game for her squad.  Manolo led the way defensively with 18 digs.

The Falcons will have the rest of the weekend off and will head to Regis College on Tuesday October 23rd for a 7pm game.
