Falcons Athletes Encourage The Boston Community To Move, Cycle, Play And Dance At The Boston Social Fitness Festival

Boston, MA- On September 15th, 2018 the Fisher College Athletic teams joined in on the fun and attended the 3rd annual Boston Social Fitness Festival. The day was a fun-filled packed day that encouraged people of all ages within the community of Boston to move, cycle, play and dance together! Our student athletes joined together in Downtown Boston, to help with manning the tables, passing out t-shirts and participating in games and dancing. This opportunity meant a great deal to the Fisher College students because it was a great way for the students to give back and join in on some local community fun. The Boston Social Fitness Festival was initially created in partnership with the Mayor's Office to enhance bike travel and fitness within the city. What initially started over a decade ago as a cycling festival to promote the growth in use of bikes in the city, is now in its third year as a larger fitness festival to get those in the city and the commonwealth up and moving.

Fisher students woke up bright and early on the 15th and volunteered their time to ensure that health and fitness was the priority of the day. "In addition to simply enjoying and participating in the various fitness events, our student athletes had the opportunity to serve as role models to the younger children for a day by exemplifying the benefits of fitness and physical activity. Fisher athletes worked to check in participants and run some of the fun games and activities going on throughout the day. After a day of hard work, and a bit of dancing, our athletes are geared up for what next years festival will bring," said Women's Basketball Coach Jesse Ford.
