Lynn, Mass. -- Seniors Kyle Holmes and Malik Wilson power the Falcons over the Fighting Saints in the last seconds of the game for a 76-73 victory. With the victory, the Falcons improved to 12-7 on the season while the College of Saint Joseph (CSJ) falls to 7-10.
CSJ took a quick 10-0 lead over the Falcons before DeAndre Pennington put Fisher on the board with a made layup. Seven minutes later, Pennington hit another layup to knot the game at 18-18. Jamontay Thompson gave the Falcons their first lead of the game with a made layup, 20-18.
Fisher held their lead until the 1:17 mark in the first half when CSJ player Mickalas Snowden netted a shot from behind the arc to put the Fighting Saints up 35-33. Cooper Neal hit two free throws to tie it up again, but CSJ hit a layup to take a 2-point lead heading into the break, 37-35.
Wilson came out of the break ready to roll hitting back-to-back layups to put Fisher up 39-37. The Falcons continued to battle with the Fighting Saints consistantly chasing one or two points. Darrell Grady hit a free throw to tie the game back up, 51-51.
It wasn't until CSJ took a 71-68 lead that the Falcons picked up their pace to go on an 8-2 run finalizing the game at 76-73. After making the layup to bring the Falcons score to 68, Kyle Holmes hit another six points to bring the Falcons lead to 74-71. CSJ hit a layup to close the gap to one point 74-73. Wilson hit two free throws with :05 seconds remaining. The Fighting Saints attempted a 3-point shot, but missed finalizing the score at 76-73 in favor of the Falcons.
Holmes paced the Falcons with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Wilson also racked a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Pennington also helped Fisher offensively scoring 11 points and grabbing 8 rebounds.
