Molina's Hat Trick Leads The Falcons To A 4-0 Victory Over Anna Maria

Medford, MA- The Men's Soccer team strong play continued Wednesday evening when they played host to the visiting Anna Maria Amcats. Andree Molina (El Paso, TX) had his first career hat trick as a Falcon, tallying three goals to help the Falcons to a convincing 4-0 win. The Falcons have now won two straight and improve to 6-3-1 this season while AMC falls to 4-6.

The Falcons continued where they left off on Monday, immediately controlling possession from the first whistle. Shots from Kervens Surpris (Pompano Beach, FL) and Molina tested Anna Maria's keeper Kyle Sherman within the first five minutes of play, but both came up empty. But as Sherman tried to clear it from the zone on Molina's shot, Jonathan Collins (Southwick, MA) took back possession to remain in the Amcats box and found Marckenzy Dufort (Dorchester, MA) who put it home for the 1-0 lead at the 5:12 mark. Three minutes later, Molina snuck past the AMC defense clearing his way free for a shot to beat Sherman to take the 2-0 lead and giving him his 7th goal of the season.

Fisher's defense held AMC in check for most of the first half allowing just one shot on goal by Tanaka Mararike, giving the offense numerous chances to increase their lead. Steven Jagba tried to extend the lead to three, but his header shot in the 22nd minute was denied and the score remained 2-0. That changed when the Falcons swarmed the net with Joel Bailey (Derrider, LA) putting up a shot that was deflected by the defense right to the foot of Molina who knocked home his second goal of the night at the 33:10 mark. Molina earned the hat trick just four minutes later when he raced past the Amcats defense and popped a shot over the head of Sherman for the 4-0 lead just before halftime.

The Amcats tightened up and made adjustments out of the break, finding their way into the Falcons zone. The Amcats were limited to just two shots in the first half, but tallied eight in the second half to try to work their way back into the game. But the Falcons defense and keeper, Christopher Garcia (Rowland Heights, CA) were up to the test and earned the shutout, the second in as many days and fourth this season.

Garcia finished the day with four saves for his 6th victory of the season, while Sherman made 11 saves in the losing effort. Molina's three goals in the victory put his season total at nine, and now has 25 points for the year. Dufort's goal was his second of the season, while Collins and Bailey have now combined for nine points overall.

The men will have the weekend off to rest up for their first AII test when they host the Washington Adventist Shock who currently own a 5-1 overall record. The men will kick off after the women's game that is set to start at 4:00pm on Monday.
