Athletics: Three Falcons named CAC Players of the Week

GWINNETT, GA. – The Continental Athletic Conference announced their weekly award winners and a trio of Falcons were selected. Senior Peter Ruiz (Santa Barbara, Calif.) was chosen as the CAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week along with freshman Kelly Wallace (Hanover, Mass.) being selected as the CAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. On the court, junior Macy Barnes (Duart, Calif.) was honored as the CAC Women’s Volleyball Attacker of the Week.

Continental Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer: Offensive Player of the Week

Ruiz led the Falcons to a 2-1 week with wins over Northern Vermont University-Lyndon and Vermont Technical College. The senior captain scored a goal and totaled three assists over the three games played. Ruiz netted his lone goal while assisting on two others in the 4-0 win over Vermont Tech on September 5th. The forward then assisted on the Falcons’ only goal in the 2-1 loss to Westfield State University on September 2nd.

Continental Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer: Offensive Player of the Week

Wallace had an impressive opening two games of her collegiate career as she guided the Falcons to a 1-1 week, including a thrilling 3-2 win over Northern Vermont University-Lyndon. The rookie totaled seven points on the week with two goals and an assist. Wallace assisted on the game-winning goal against NVU-Lyndon after scoring her first collegiate goal and an assist in the team’s season opener against Husson University on September 1st.

Continental Athletic Conference Women’s Volleyball: Attacker of the Week

Barnes was dominant in the Falcons clean three-set victory over Northern Vermont University-Lyndon on September 1st, the team’s only game of the week. The Mount San Antonio College (Calif.) transfer hammered down 14 kills in her Fisher debut while registering a .345 hitting percentage. The 5-7 outside hitter also collected four digs and one service ace over her three sets played.

All three student-athletes and teams return to action this week. Wallace and the Women’s Soccer team will travel to Mitchell College tomorrow afternoon for a 3:30pm kickoff. Barnes will lead the Women’s Volleyball program into a road contest at Nichols College on Thursday night while Ruiz and Men’s Soccer resume play this weekend in Maine.
