Boston, MA - Fisher College is excited to offer Men's and Women's Cross Country seasons for the first time this fall. Both teams will be coached by first-year collegiate coach, Warren MacPhail, a native of Winthrop, MA, who comes to Fisher with 26 years of experience. "I am so excited to get the Fisher Cross Country programs off and running. I feel very fortunate to be part of something very special and look forward to what's ahead of us," said Coach MacPhail as prepares for his first class to arrive next week.

Julio Valladares, a freshman from Chelsea, MA, plans to be the face of the men's program, as he is the first-ever recruited cross country athlete to attend Fisher. Valladares was born and raised in Honduras, but attended high school in Chelsea, where he starred on the cross country and both indoor and outdoor track teams. He comes to Fisher with many accolades and accomplishments in and out of the classroom, including being named captain of all three teams during his senior season. Valladares was also a two-time Outdoor Track Herald All-Star in the Commonwealth Athletic League in 2018 and 2019. The incoming freshman enters the Fisher Management program with a concentration in Entrepreneurship and will look to help and lead the other incoming runners as they arrive next week.

"I decided to commit to running for Fisher because I saw the opportunity of being a part of something brand new at the school," said Valladares. "Additionally, I am looking forward to being a part of the amazing journey as the foundation of the new Cross Country team with Coach MacPhail and my new teammates, and look forward to an amazing future as a Falcon."

The inaugural season will kick off for both team's next month when they head to the Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon College on September 21st. For a complete look at the schedule, click here.
