Falcons fall to UTB Scorpions 12-4 in game 2 of 5 game series

The Falcons dropped the second game of the series against Texas-Brownsville tonight by the score of 12-4. With the loss, the Falcons drop to 0-6 on the year and 0-2 on their annual trip to Texas.

Freshman starter Alex Fowler had a strong outing, giving up just 3 runs on 8 hits over 5 and 1/3 innings but took the loss in his second career start.

UTB got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the second but Fowler was able to settle down and keep Scorpions scoreless until the sixth inning. Despite Fowler's best efforts, the Falcons couldn't grab an early lead, going scoreless until the 8th inning for the second straight game.

UTB's Adam Vera went 8 innings for the win. Vera scattered 4 hits and gave up a single run.

UTB broke the game open with a sixth run 7th in which the Fisher pitchers struggled.  Izzy Velez was roughed up for 5 runs on 3 hits and 1 walk in just a 1/3 off an inning.  Pedro Escarfullery  allowed one hit and one run, including a bases loaded walk on four pitchers.

Fisher had six players recording hits, including 2 by 1st baseman Davidson Peguero. Eridani Dume finished with 2 RBIs, both coming on a single in the top of the ninth.

The Falcons return tomorrow for game 3 of the series against Texas-Brownsville.  First pitch is at 6pm CST.
