Fowler gets first career win, Falcons win third in a row

The Fisher Falcons returned to action Sunday against the University of Maine- Farmington a day after sweeping Fitchburg State in a doubleheader on Saturday. For Fisher, the results were the same as they took both games from the Beavers, 3-1 and 6-2.

Freshman Alex Fowler took the ball for the Falcons in game one and was locked in from the onset. Fowler struckout the first two batters he saw and got his third K of the inning after a Jack MacVane single.

In the bottom half of the first the Falcons gained a lead they never relinquished.  Eridani Dume led off with a double to left but was thrown out trying to steal third on the next pitch. After a Gary Lunetta fly out, Victor Lebron singled to right.  Davidson Peguero, who leads the Falcons in runs batted in, added to his total when he tripled to right, scoring Lebron.

A one, two, three inning by the Beavers allowed Fisher the opportunity to increase their lead.  Ronnie Rosario led of the inning with a hit by pitch and eventually stole second.  He would come around to score when Jose Paulino took a 1-2 fast ball to centerfield, increasing Fisher's lead to 2-0.

The third, fourth, and fifth innings went scoreless, with each team recording just two hits apiece.

Fowler's shutout bid was erased when Ethan Jean drove in Brett Wallingford with a single to right.  However the Falcons got that run back in the bottom of the sixth inning with a Michael Flynn RBI double down the left field line.

Fowler, who has a decision in all six career starts, picked up his first win as a Falcon.  He went six innings, allowing 6 hits, 1 run and had 5 strikeouts.  Freshman Chris Cantu picked up his second save of the season to improve the Falcons to 4-15 on the season.
