Rosario, Falcons walk off to victory over SUNY- Canton in game 1 of doubleheader

In the first game of Friday's doubleheader the Falcons had to use every out but managed to knock off SUNY-Canton for their 7th consecutive win.

In the 1st inning SUNY- Canton took advantage of multiple Fisher College mistakes to jump out to a 3-0 lead. The Falcons committed two errors and allowed two pass balls to give the Roos the early lead. However, in the bottom of the 1st the Falcons managed to get one run back when Davidson Peguero singled down the right field line that was able to score sophomore Victor Lebron after an error by the right fielder.

In the 2nd inning, Denon Rushing led off with a walk, followed by a double from catcher Brett Remon. Following a Jose Paulino line out and a Dominic Zaher walk, Eridani Dume had a chance to tie the game with the bases load. Dume singled up the middle to score Rushing but Luis Pagan, who was pinch running for Remon, was gunned down at the plate by the SUNY-Canton centerfielder.  The Falcons settled for one run in the inning and trailed 3-2 after 2 innings of play.

SUNY- Canton extended their lead to 4-2 in the fifth inning when Jordan Hunneyman scored following a throwing error by 3rd baseman Kenny Kahle.

The Falcons managed to get one back in the bottom of the inning.  Dominic Zaher led off the inning with a line drive to center and advanced to 2nd on a Dume groundout.  Kahle's infield single allowed Zaher to reach 3rd and scored on Victor Lebron's RBI groundout.

The Falcons threatened to tie the game up 4-4 in the 6th inning but Michael Flynn was tagged out in a rundown after stopping halfway between 3rd and home.

SUNY-Canton went down scoreless in the top of the 7th and the Falcons hit one last time trailing 4-3.

To start the inning Dume reached on an error then stole 2nd to get into scoring position.  After a failed pickoff attempt by the pitcher that caused the ball to go into centerfield, Dume stood on 3rd, just 90 feet from tying the game.  On the next pitch, Kahle was able to redeem himself from his previous error with an RBI single up the middle.

With the game tied at 4-4, the Falcons still had a chance to win the game in the last inning.  Following a pitching change, Lebron moved Kahle to 2nd with a sacrifice bunt. Peguero was intentionally walked to set up the double play which set the stage for Ronnie Rosario. Rosario drove an outside fastball towards right field that took a bad hop and struck the 2nd baseman in the collarbone.  On the ricochet Kahle was able to score from 2nd to give the Falcons their 7th win in a row and 8th overall.

With the victory in game 1 of the doubleheader, the Falcons improved to 8-15. SUNY-Canton fell to 7-16.
