Fisher dominates Briarcliffe in doubleheader sweep

Boston – An offensively explosion and quality pitching paced the Fisher College Falcons to a two game sweep of non-conference rivals Briarcliffe College.  The Falcons took game one, 18-0, before taking the nightcap, 15-0.

Amarius Sanatana earned the victory for the Falcons in game one, going five shutout innings. The right-hander allowed three hits and three walks but managed to record five strikeouts.

Brian DeJesus and Grayson Weber each pitched a clean inning in relief to close out Fisher's fourth shutout of the season.

The Falcons offensive managed to score in five of seven innings, including a season-high 12 run 6th inning.

Fisher collected 17 hits on the day including multiple hits from Dominic Zaher (3-for-4), Devin Perry (3-for-4), Dylan Moss (2-for-4), Sander Vargas (2-for-5), Jose Fortuna (2-for-3) and Jessue Alavarado (2-for-3).

Perry and Vargas each had 3 RBIs while Fortuna and Alvarado knocked in a pair.

The dominance continued in game two, led by senior Shawn Carlson's masterful performance on the mound.

Carlson went five shutout innings, allowing just an infield hit while recording six strikeouts. Seniors Ryne McNary and Chris Cantu each threw a scoreless inning in relief for the Falcons.

The offense was led by home runs from Jordan Berry and Cody Mercier.  It was Berry's fourth home run of the season while Mercier belted his first career home run in the 5th inning.

Berry finished the day 1-for-2 with 3 RBIs while Mercier was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Fisher received multiple hits in game two from Zaher (2-for-4), Nelson Lopez (2-for-5), Jose Fortuna (2-for-3), Andres Ruiz (2-for-2) and Mercier.

The Falcons, who climbed back to .500 (10-10) with the doubleheader sweep will return to action Wednesday, April 8th when they travel to Worcester State University for a 3:30 p.m. first pitch.
