Falcons power their way past the Pioneers

(Lynn, Mass.) – In their first game of the day, the Fisher College Falcons came from behind to defeat Point Park University by the score of 9-7.

Point Park jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first three innings. In to the bottom of the 4th inning the Fisher bats began to wake up starting with a solo shot from senior Sam Schroeder (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) for his 2nd homerun of the year. Kyle Anulao (Peoria, Ariz.) followed the home run with a single bringing up Reynaldo Moreta (Boston, Mass.)  Moreta promptly banged a 2-run homerun that tied the game at 3-3. The Falcons would take a 4-3 lead on a bases loaded walk to Cody Mercier (Salem, Mass.)

The Falcons were not done offensively, as they added four runs on four hits in the 5th inning.  Fisher was able to capitalize on the mistakes by Point Park scoring two unearned runs in the inning and extending their lead to 9-3.

Point Park would not go down quietly, as the Falcons had to do two pitching changes in the next inning. After the Pioneers cut the lead to 9-6, Falcons closer Matthew Trotta (Westford, Mass.) escaped a bases loaded jam with clutch pitching, earning the save.

Falcon's sophomore Zach LeBlanc (Salem, Mass.) picked up his 4th win of the year on the bump. The Falcons are now 20-14 on the season. Fisher will be back at it later on today at 5 p.m. vs. St. Joseph (Vt).
