Falcons' Rally Just Short of Victory

(Lynn, Mass.) – The Falcons lost a close matchup in their second game of the day, losing to College of St. Joseph (Vt.) 8-5 in 8 innings at Fraser Field on Friday night. With this loss, Fisher now has a record of 20-15.

 

The College of St. Joseph Fighting Saints jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after 3 ½ innings of play. After three consecutive walks to load the bases, Joshua Casado (Lawerence, Mass.) knocked a 2-run single to cut St. Joseph's lead to 5-2.  

 

Down to their last out with two men on, Reynoldo Moreta (Boston, Mass.) and Angel Perez Vargas (Dorado, Puerto Rico) knocked back-to-back clutch hits tying the game at 5-5, forcing the game to go into extra innings.

 

The Fighting Saints stormed back with three runs of their own in top of the 8th inning, taking an 8-5 lead. The Falcons managed to get the leadoff man on in the bottom half of the inning, but St. Josephs held on for the win.

 

Pitcher Kelvin Guzman (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) took the loss, while he struck out two in his relief appearance. Fisher will be back at it tomorrow with another double-header.  First game will be at 10:00 am vs. Point Park at Fraser Field.
