Falcons hold off Gators for a 4-3 Victory

(LYNN, MA) - The Fisher College Falcons (23-16) hold off the Pine Manor College Gators (4-12) for a 4-3 victory in an eight inning game this afternoon at Fraser Field.  Freshman starting pitcher Norberto Ceballos put together another solid start making it back to back victories for the young righty.  On this night, Ceballos tossed six innings of work, limiting the Gators offense to just two runs on four hits while striking out five.  Lefty reliever Matt Trotta entered the game in the seventh giving up one unearned run, on one hit and righty Edgar Carrasco earned his first save on the year pitching a perfect inning striking out two.

The Falcons offense started its scoring in the first inning as LF Jose Jimmenez plated two runs on a misplay by the Gators' right fielder.  Then in the third inning Falcons' 1B Mitch Lundholm mashed an RBI triple scoring SS Angel Perez-Vargez, and two hitters later LF Jose Jimenez scored Lundholm with an RBI sacrifice fly to center field putting the Falcons up 4-0.

The Gators offense broke up the shutout in the 5th inning with a two RBI single by 3B Isaiah Mack and again scored an unearned run in the seventh.

With the victory the Falcons are now 23-16 on the season and play the College of Saint Joseph's Fighting Saints later this evening at 7pm at Fraser Field.  The Gators fall to 4-12 on the season and will play CSJ Fighting Saints at 3:30pm this afternoon at Fraser Field.
