LYNN, MASS. – A wild walk-off Saturday ensued for the Fisher College Baseball team this afternoon as they upended Bryant & Stratton College-Albany, 2-1 and 7-6 in the opening double-header of the four game weekend series. The Falcons are now 7-1 during the fall portion of the 2019-2020 season.

Game One: Fisher College 2, Bryant & Stratton College-Albany 1 (Final)

Sophomore John Batista's (Lawrence, Mass.) two-run double in the bottom of the ninth inning was the difference maker as the Falcons rallied back from an early 1-0 deficit to defeat the Bobcats, 2-1 in the opening game of the day's twin-bill.

Batista's double allowed both senior Mitchell Lundholm (Plymouth, Mass.) and junior Jonathan Rosado (Bayamon, P.R.) to scamper home with the game-tying and game-winning runs to lift the Falcons to victory. Batista finished the ballgame going 1-for-4 with the two-RBI double while both Lundholm and junior Cameron Pearson (Orlando, Fla.) also went 1-for-4. Senior Freddy Gonzalez (Caracas, Venezuela) added his own 1-for-3 showing as the Fisher offense could only gather four hits in the contest.

Junior Will Carpenter (Brentwood, N.H.) allowed a run in the first inning before cruising to a complete game effort for his third win in as many starts this fall. The left-hander dazzled over the nine innings of work, surrendering four hits while striking out 11 and allowing the one unearned run.

Blackburn suffered the tough loss for Bryant & Stratton as he was spotless through the first eight innings of work. He finished the ball game with 8.2 innings pitched allowing two runs (both unearned) on four hits and striking out three Falcons. Senior John Lochiano (Montreal, Que.) scored the lone Bobcat run as he went 1-for-4 along with juniors Gabriel Murrillo (San Juan, P.R.), Michael Santos (Providence, R.I.) and senior Xavier Santiago (Hartford, Conn.) – as they accounted for all four base hits off of Carpenter.

Game Two: Fisher College 7, Bryant & Stratton College-Albany 6 (Final)

For the second time in as many games, the Falcons were able to rally late and walk-off on the Bobcats as they take game two by a 7-6 final.

Junior Victor Torres (Rochester, N.Y.) singled up the middle which allowed classmate Jacob Deziel (Merrimac, Mass.) to scamper home and give Fisher the dramatic win and sweep of the day's double-header. Three Falcons finished with multi-hit games as Lundholm, Batista and freshman Reynaldo Vega (Aguada, P.R.) all ended their afternoons recording two hits each. Batista went 2-for-4 with a RBI and two doubles while Vega also added a RBI on his 2-for-4 showing at the dish.

Brian Montanez received the victory on the mound as he dealt 2.2 innings of hitless baseball in relief. Johann Doerrer earned the start and went 4.2 innings allowing two unearned runs on five hits while striking out four.

BSC-Albany junior Max Perrolta (Niskayuna, N.Y.) was tagged with the loss as he went 8.1 innings surrendering seven runs (five earned) on ten hits while striking out nine. Offensively, sophomore Clarence Givhans (Brooklyn, N.Y.) went 3-for-5 and Felix Garcia added a two-RBI, 2-for-4 night at the plate in the loss.

Both teams will be back at it tomorrow afternoon at Fraser Field. First pitch is scheduled for 12pm.
