Baseball: Falcons begin 2019-2020 season with DH sweep of BSC-Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Fisher College Baseball earned a pair of victories this afternoon on the road as they defeated Bryant & Stratton-Albany, 5-2 and 6-3 in the season opener. The Falcons and Bobcats will round out the four-game series tomorrow afternoon with another double-header. First pitch is schedule for 12pm.

Game One: Fisher College 5, Bryant & Stratton-Albany 2 (Final)

A three-run third inning combined with excellent relief pitching guided the Falcons to the season opening 5-2 win over Bryant & Stratton-Albany. Senior George Gali (Guayama, P.R.) and junior Norberto Ceballos (Loiza, P.R.) allowed just one hit over the final 4.2 innings to secure the victory. Gali was credited with the win as he spun 1.2 innings of perfect relief and Ceballos surrendered one-hit while striking out four over the final three frames for his first save of the 2019-20 season.

Offensively Fisher was paced by junior Jonathan Rosado (Bayamon, P.R.), who belted his first home run of the year and finished the opener going 2-for-5 at the plate with two-RBI. Classmate Cameron Pearson (Orlando, Fla.) also registered a multi-hit game as he finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and RBI. In total the Falcon offense mustered just eight hits while walking three times.

The Bobcats saw senior John Loschiavo (Montreal, Que.) go 2-for-4 and freshman Murillo knock in the team's only RBI. Sophomore Victor Ortiz (West Palm, Fla.) suffered the loss on the mound as he tossed a complete game allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits while striking out 11 and surrendering a home run.

Game Two: Fisher College 6, Bryant & Stratton-Albany 3 (Final)

After allowing three runs in the home half of the first inning, the Falcons stormed back with six unanswered runs to finish the double-header sweep of the Bobcats by a 6-3 final.

Powered by the bats of Rosado and senior Mitchell Lundholm (Plymouth, Mass.), Fisher belted out 10 hits in the night cap. Lundholm went 3-for-5 with his first home run of the year and two RBI. Rosado added another home run on his 2-for-4, two RBI night and sophomore Reynaldo Vega (Aguada, P.R.) also added a multi-hit game finishing 2-for-4.

Junior Will Carpenter (Brentwood, N.H.) earned the win on the mound for the Falcons as he dazzled over seven frames, allowing three runs (all earned) on six hits while striking out five. Sophomroe Angel Alicea (Caguas, P.R.) recorded his first save with two perfect innings of relief while retiring two by way of the K.

Bryant & Stratton-Albany's offensive attack was led by senior Michael Santos (Providence, R.I.), who had a two-RBI base hit in the first inning, and freshman catcher Morales who finished 2-for-4. Freshman Dino Ferrorese suffered the complete game loss as he surrendered six runs (all earned) on ten hits while walking seven and striking out six.
