Baseball: Falcons extend winning streak to nine; out-slug Anna Maria 18-9

NORTHBOROUGH, MASS. – For the second consecutive afternoon, the Fisher College Baseball team scored 18 runs on their way to outslugging Anna Maria College, 18-9 in a non-conference affair at the New England Baseball Complex. The win extends the Falcons winning streak to nine games as they improve to 11-1 on the season.

Junior Jonathan Rosado (Bayamon, P.R.) led the way offensively for Fisher as he finished his day at the dish going 2-for-5 with five RBI. Junior Nicholas Lucchese (Long Island, N.Y.) had himself a day as he went 3-for-4 with four runs scored and three RBI. Fellow juniors Cameron Pearson (Orlando, Fla.), Victor Torres (Rochester, N.Y.) and freshman Emanuel Rosado (Bayamon, P.R.) all each recorded two hits in the win.

Senior right-hander Johann Doerrer (Dolgeville, N.Y.) earned the win in relief for the Falcons as he scattered five runs on two hits while striking out four over his 3.2 innings of work. Freshman William Carpenter (Brentwood, N.H.) allowed four runs on seven hits as he started his fourth game this season. The left-hander struck out six and walked two before giving way to senior George Gali (Guayama, P.R.), who gave up two hits in 1.2 innings of work. Sophomore Brian Montanez (Arroyo, P.R.) and Lucchese finished out the ballgame as they combined to strikeout all four hitters they faced. The Falcons pitching staff ended the afternoon with 14 strikeouts.

Anna Maria was led by senior Adam Twitchell (Shrewsbury, Mass.) who belted a grand-slam on his way to a 2-for-4 night with four RBI. Junior Nick Genatossio (Sutton, Mass.) also recorded multiple RBI as he finished with two RBI on his own 2-for-4 showing with a home run. Sophomore Kosta Drosidis (Holden, Mass.) shined bright offensively for the AMCATS as he went 3-for-4 while junior Jason Shell (Sandwich, Mass.) added two hits of his own.

Fisher will enjoy some time off before they entertain Lasell University on Friday, February 28 at 3pm. Game is slated to be played right back at the New England Baseball Complex.
