LYNN, MASS. – The Fisher College Baseball team saw their nine-game winning streak come to an end this evening as they fell to visiting Lasell University, 7-6 under the lights at Fraser Field. The loss is only the second of the season for the Falcons and their first since the calendar flipped to 2020. Fisher is now 11-2 overall on the season while the Lasers open their campaign with a win and are now 1-0.

Offensively the Falcons pounded out 11 hits on the night led by junior Cameron Pearson (Orlando, Fla.), who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and represented the tying run on second base when the game came to a close. Classmate Jacob Deziel (Merrimac, Mass.) also knocked in a pair of runs as he went 2-for-3 with a run scored and Freddy Gonzalez (Caracas, Venezuela) added a pinch-hit RBI single to left field in his only plate appearance. Sophomore Reynaldo Vega (Aguada, P.R.) collected two hits in a 2-for-2 showing coming off the bench for the Falcons.

Freshman William Carpenter (Brentwood, N.H.) suffered his first collegiate loss as he allowed three runs (all earned) on seven hits while striking out four.

Lasell saw their top four hitters in the lineup each register two hits and at least one RBI on the night with junior Wyatt Sihovonen (Lebanon, Conn.) leading the way going 2-for-5 with two RBI. Fellow junior Sean Doris (Lincoln, R.I.) also collected two hits from the eight-hole as he went 2-for-5 with two RBI and also recorded his first save of the season in relief.

Senior Zach Handzel (Palmer, Mass.) earned the win as the right-hander tossed 5.2 innings surrendering four runs (all earned) on six hits while walking one and striking out three. Classmate Chris O'Connor (Duxbury, Mass.) bridged the gap to Doris with 1.1 inning of work, allowing one run (earned) on three hits. Doris then had the two-inning save while allowing one run (earned) on two hits and striking out one.

Fisher will return to action on Sunday, March 8th as they travel to West Virginia Tech for a 1pm start. Lasell will be back on the field on Saturday, March 7th with a non-conference game against Framingham State inside the New England Baseball Complex. Game time is set for 5pm.
