Montgomery, W.Va. – A four-run eighth inning catapulted the Fisher College Baseball team to an 8-5 win over West Virginia University Institute of Technology this afternoon. The latest come-from-behind win lifts the Falcons to an overall record of 12-2 while WV Tech falls to 7-16.

Trailing 5-4 entering the eighth inning, the Falcons put a rally together to steal the win. Junior Jonathan Rosado (Bayamon, P.R.) worked a bases loaded walk to tie the game and then sophomore John Batista (Lawrence, Mass.) cleared the bases with a 3-RBI double to right-center to give Fisher an 8-5 lead that they wouldn't relinquish.

Freshman William Carpenter (Brentwood, N.H.) entered the game in the seventh and was able to toss three innings of scoreless relief to earn his fourth win of the season. The left-hander allowed just two hits and struck out seven. Senior Jose Galan (Alta, P.R.) was the starting pitcher for the Falcons as he surrendered five runs (four earned) on five hits while striking out six in his 5.1 innings of work. Senior George Gali (Guayama, P.R.) cleaned up the sixth inning by recording the final two outs without allowing a hit.

Batista's double was the highlight of the ten-hit attack for Fisher in their first game of a 12-game road trip. Batista finished 2-for-4 with four RBI and Rosado added his own 2-for-4, 2-RBI night at the dish. Also recording two-hit ballgames were junior Nicholas Lucchese (Long Island, N.Y.) and sophomore Reynaldo Vega (Aguada, P.R.). Both went 2-for-4 with a double while Vega recorded an RBI and Lucchese scored two runs. Senior Mitchell Lundholm (Plymouth, Mass.) added a 1-for-2, two runs scored performance in the win.

WV Tech saw Kent Rooklin go 3-for-5 with three runs scored from the leadoff spot and Andrew Sharp added four RBI on his 2-for-5 showing at the plate. Matthew Silverstein was credited with the loss after he allowed two runs (both earned) in his inning of work as he was one of six pitchers to pitch in the game for WV Tech.

Fisher will board the bus and travel to Pikeville, Kentucky for a four-game series at Pikeville University. The first of two double-headers start tomorrow afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 12pm.
