GWINNETT, GA. – Even though the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) did not crown a team champion, the league is recognizing its student-athletes with their selection to the All-Conference and Champions of Character teams for the commendable performances this spring.

The 2020 A.I.I. All-Conference team was announced on Friday, April 3 by the league office. These were not designated first-, second-, or honorable mention team honors; every student-athlete was named to the All-Conference team. There were no special awards such as player of the year, pitcher of the year and coach of the year.

Nationally ranked (#3) Georgia Gwinnett College (25-2) paced the way with 10 All-Conference selections, followed by Talladega College of Alabama (11-14) with eight; Massachusetts' Fisher College (14-4) with seven; and Arkansas' Crowley's Ridge College (11-11) and Mississippi's Tougaloo College each with five.

Senior Mitchell Lundholm (Plymouth, Mass.) highlighted the seven Falcons selected. The NAIA Pre-Season All-American did not disappoint as he led the team in nearly every offensive category. Lundholm, the reigning A.I.I. Co-Player of the Year and First-Team selection from 2019, ranked first on the team with a .466 average, collecting 34 hits while mashing five home runs and knocking in 29 RBI.

Also returning to the A.I.I. All-Conference team is sophomore John Batista (Lawrence, Mass.). Batista batted .333 on the year with 21 hits, including a home run, 12 extra-base hits and 21 runs batted in. The outfielder also handled all 18 opportunities for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

Junior Cameron Pearson (Orlando, Fla.) was named to the All-Conference team after having a hot-start to the year. Pearson finished the season with a .441 batting average on 30 hits with 11 RBI. He collected eight multi-hit games including going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI in the team's win over Rivier University back on September 28th.

Fellow junior Jonathan Rosado (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) earned his first All-Conference selection after tying for the team lead with five home runs while batting .319. The right-handed hitting designated hitter registered 22 hits on the year, eight for extra-bases, while driving in 26 RBI and swiping four bases.

Sophomore Reynaldo Vega (Aguada, Puerto Rico) rounds out the position group as he was tabbed an All-Conference student-athlete. The second baseman enjoyed a terrific second campaign as he batted .339 with 21 hits, including a home run and drove in 10 RBI. He also recorded five extra-base hits and committed just two errors in 68 chances.

On the mound, the Falcons received two All-Conference selections in sophomore Angel Alicea (Caguas, Puerto Rico) and freshman William Carpenter (Brentwood, N.H.).

Alicea was Fisher's top arm out of the bullpen as he appeared in eight games (one start) while throwing 20.1 innings and recording a 3.10 earned run average. The right-hander walked 19 and struck out 23 on the year (a 10.18 K per 9-inning ratio) while surrendering just 14 hits and 11 runs (seven earned). Alicea finished with a record of 1-1 with two saves.

Carpenter was the workhorse for the Falcons during the season. The rookie left-hander made eight appearances for Fisher, with six starts, and went 5-1 on the mound with a save and an ERA of 3.10. He also accumulated a K per 9 inning ratio of 11.23 as he struck out 47 batters over his 37.2 inning pitched. The highlight of Carpenter's season was back on October 12th, as he spun a complete game 9-inning win over Bryant & Stratton College-Albany; striking out 11 and allowing one unearned run on four hits.

Senior Freddy Gonzalez (Caracas, Venezuela) was chosen as the Fisher representative on the A.I.I. Champions of Character team.
