NORTHBORO, MASS. – The Fisher College Baseball team earned a pair of victories this evening over Becker College under the lights at the New England Baseball Complex by scores of 14-2 and 17-5. The wins push the Falcons to 4-0 while the Hawks fall to 0-2.

Game One: Fisher College 14, Becker College 2 (FINAL)

The bats came alive for the Fisher offense in the opening game of the double-header, however it was the left-arm of freshman William Carpenter (Brentwood, N.H.) that was the difference in the 14-2 triumph.

Becker scored the first run of the game in the second inning with two outs. Carpenter then entered the ballgame for senior starter Johan Doerrer (Dolgeville, N.Y.), struck out the next hitter to end the inning and then proceeded to finish the ballgame. The southpaw allowed just one run (earned) on two hits while striking out 12 in his 5.1 innings of work for his first win of the season.

At the plate, senior Jonathan Rosado (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) belted a two-run shot to deep left field to highlight the 14 run, 11 hit attack for the Falcons. Rosado finished 1-for-2 with the HR and two RBI. Senior Mitchell Lundholm (Plymouth, Mass.) added a pair of base knocks and finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored while junior Nicholas Lucchese (Long Island, N.Y.) knocked in three RBI on his 2-for-3 afternoon at the dish. Junior Jordan Gosselin (Rochester, N.H.) also recorded three RBI with his bases clearing triple in the fifth inning.

Becker managed just three hits in the opener with seniors Coby Hussey (Claremont, N.H.), Noah Rivera (New Bedford, Mass.) and junior Andrew Bumpus (Carver, Mass.) recording those singles. Rivera's knock was a RBI double in the third inning and it was the Hawks' final hit of the contest. Senior Payton Musco (Litchfield, N.H.) was credited with the loss as he allowed the eventual winning runs in his only inning of work. Junior Tevon Johnson (New Bedford, Mass.) got the start and tossed two frames allowing two runs on three hits while striking out three. Freshman Zayvier Hartman (Clovis, N.M.) pitched a clean inning in the fourth for Becker.

Game Two: Fisher College 17, Becker College 5 (FINAL)

A nine-run bottom of the first inning was all that the Falcons would need as they cruised to a game two victory, 17-5. Fisher batted around in both the first and second innings, collecting all 17 runs on 12 hits.

Sophomore Angel Alicea (Caguas, Puerto Rico) earned his second win of the week after throwing four innings and surrendering just one run (unearned) on one hit while striking out nine. A trio of relievers all made their season debuts in the nightcap. Freshman Yadriel Cuadrado (Yabucoa, Puerto Rico) spun a scoreless fifth inning while Fernando Ortiz (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) and Joseph Ortiz (Guayama, Puerto Rico) rounded out the ballgame, pitching an inning each.

Freshman Dennis Santiago (Orlando, Fla.) went 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored to power the 15-hit outburst. Lundholm added three more RBI on his 3-for-4 night and freshman Armando Figueroa (Orlando, Fla.) made his debut with a 1-for-3, two RBI evening. Rosado also picked up where he left off in the first contest as he went 2-for-3 with three RBI and sophomore John Batista (Lawrence, Mass.) smacked a two-run homer in the first on his way to a 1-for-2 nightcap.

For Becker, sophomore Omar Garrido (Providence, R.I.) took the loss on the hill as he allowed nine runs (five earned) on six hits while walking three. Freshman Stanley Vasquez (New York, N.Y.) and junior Adam Conanan (Staten Island, N.Y.) combined to throw three scoreless frames to finish the game for the Hawks, giving up just three hits and striking out five.

Offensively, Becker managed just four hits with Rivera knocking in two RBI on his 1-for-3 evening. Hussey also recorded a base knock and freshman Ethan Perry (Dartmouth, Mass.) added his own 1-for-3 performance. Bumpus registered the fourth hit for Becker, ending his night going 1-for-2 with a run scored.

Fisher will be right back at it tomorrow afternoon as they travel to New London, Conn. for a 12pm double-header at Mitchell College. Live stats and video can be found at FisherFalcons.com. Becker, meanwhile, will have some time before their next scheduled contest. They will battle Anna Maria College on March 10 here at the New England Baseball Complex.
