NORTHBORO, MASS. – Freshman Ivanuel Hernandez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) went deep twice this evening as the Fisher College Baseball team picked up their sixth win of the season with a 14-3 triumph over Becker College under the lights at the New England Baseball Complex. The wins sends the Falcons to a 6-1 overall record while the Hawks are credited with their first loss of the 2021 campaign.

Hernandez wasted no time in helping to extend the Fisher lead in the first inning. With one run already in and a runner at second, Hernandez lifted a ball deep into the night for his first home run of the season and his career which capped the three-run opening frame for the Falcons. Hernandez then belted his second home run of the game in the sixth inning, another two-run shot which gave Fisher a commanding 11-1 lead. He finished the contest going 2-for-5 with two HR and four RBI as the team's designated hitter.

The two home runs overshadowed the excellent start from freshman Andres Meletiche (Guayanilla, Puerto Rico). The left-handed spun five scoreless frames allowing just five hits while striking out five and not issuing a walk. A quartet of relievers finished out the ballgame for Fisher as they combined for four innings of two hit ball and surrendering two runs (both unearned) while striking out five.

Senior Mitchell Lundholm (Plymouth, Mass.) also smacked a two-run shot in the sixth as he finished the night going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI. Both junior Elijah Perez (Lawrence, Mass.) and sophomore John Batista (Lawrence, Mass.) added two RBI apiece and two runs scored in the win.

Becker's seven hit offensive attack was guided by junior Andrew Bumpus (Carver, Mass.), who went 2-for-4 with a RBI. Freshman Ethan Perry (Dartmouth, Mass.) also chipped in with a two-hit performance, ending his night going 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Junior Tevon Johnson (New Bedford, Mass.) was credited with the loss after the right-hander allowed seven runs (three earned) on five hits while striking out five and issuing seven walks in 3.2 innings of work. Freshman Zayvier Hartman (Clovis, N.M.) was lights-out as he retired all three hitters he faced, including a strikeout, in his first career collegiate appearance.

The Falcons will return to action tomorrow afternoon against Eastern Nazarene College. The game, which was originally scheduled to be a Fraser Field, has been moved to the New England Baseball Complex. Game time is scheduled for 4pm. Becker is scheduled to be back on the diamond next Wednesday, March 10th at the New England Baseball Complex against Anna Maria College. First pitch is slated for 3pm.
