LYNN, MASS. – The Fisher College Baseball team extended their winning streak to six games this evening as they defeated visiting Saint Joseph's College (Me.), 6-2 in non-conference action under the lights at Fraser Field. The win improves the Falcons overall record to 13-2 while the Monks fall to 2-4.

The Monks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the fourth. Grad-student Drew Healy (Rochester, N.H.) singled home senior Luke Johnson (East Hampton, Conn.) and classmate Dylan Fournier (South Windsor, Conn.) followed with a triple that plated Healy. That would be all that Saint Joseph's would get as freshman Fernando Ortiz (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) recorded the final two out of the inning and gave to senior Jose Galan (Alta, Puerto Rico) to close it out.

Fisher answered immediately in the bottom of the inning. Freshman Dennis Santiago (Orlando, Fla.) worked a bases loaded walk to score the first Falcon run. Junior Jacob Deziel (Merrimac, Mass.) then lifted a sacrifice fly to left to tie the game before freshman Ivanuel Hernandez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) smacked a double to deep right-center to give Fisher a 3-2 lead that they would not relinquish.

The big reason why once the Falcons took the lead, it was for good, was because of the outstanding pitching performance from Galan. The left-hander tossed the final five frames surrendering just one hit while striking out 10 to earn his second win of the season.

Fisher then would tack on two insurance runs in the sixth inning as senior Mitchell Lundholm (Plymouth, Mass.) doubled home junior Victor Torres (Rochester, N.Y.) to make it 5-2. Fellow senior Jonathan Rosado (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) then singled home Lundholm to account for all of the scoring.

Rosado finished the ballgame going 3-for-4 at the plate. Lundholm added a 2-for-5 night and Torres also collected two hits, including a RBI hustle base hit in the fourth that made it 4-2. The unsung hero of the night was sophomore Angel Rivera (Caguas, Puerto Rico). The right-hander started the ballgame and pitched 3.1 innings allowing two runs (both earned) on four hits and striking out one.

Saint Joseph's got a good start on the mound from senior Jonathan Marchia (Chicopee, Mass.), who went the first three innings allowing just two hits. Freshman Malachi Flaherty (Guilder, N.Y.) suffered the loss as he was responsible for the first three Falcons to score in his appearance. Fournier paced the offense with a 2-for-4, RBI night and Healy finished the contest going 1-for-3 with a RBI.

Fisher will be back at Fraser Field tomorrow night as they host Lasell University. The 7pm contest will be a limited event, as no spectators are allowed inside the ballpark. Saint Joseph's will return to play on Saturday as they travel to Eastern Connecticut State University for a double-header beginning at 12pm.
