LYNN, MASS. – For the second time in as many nights, it came down to the last at-bat as Fisher College walked off on Worcester State University for a come from behind 7-6 game two win to salvage a spilt of the day's twin-bill. The Lancers earned a game one victory by scoring three runs in the top of the ninth to steal a 7-6 win before suffering the 7-6 loss in the nightcap. Fisher moves their overall record to 21-8 with the split while Worcester State slides to 8-2.

Game One: Worcester State University 7, Fisher College 6 (Final)

The Falcons surrendered three runs in the top of the ninth inning as the Lancers stole game one, 7-6.

After allowing Worcester State to take a 4-0 lead, Fisher battled back by scoring two in the fourth. Freshman Ivanuel Hernandez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) blasted his fourth home run of the season – a two-run shot to right to make it a 4-2 ballgame. Two innings later, the Falcons mounted a four-run rally to claim a 6-4 lead, highlighted by a Hernandez RBI double and a single from freshman Dennis Santiago (Orlando, Fla.) to tie the game. Fellow freshman Emanuel Rosado (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) then gave Fisher a lead with a RBI groundout before junior Jacob Deziel (Merrimac, Mass.) lined a RBI double just inside the third base bag to give Fisher a 6-4 lead.

In the ninth, the Lancers would get to Fisher senior reliever Jose Galan (Alta, Puerto Rico). With one out and runners on the corners, sophomore Chris Ausiello (Tyngsboro, Mass.) singled home a run to make it 6-5. Two batters later, junior Michael Mabee Jr. (Saugus, Mass.) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to tie the game. Sophomore Chris Wright (Jefferson, Mass.) then gave Worcester State a lead with a RBI fielder's choice off Fisher's second pitcher of the inning, sophomore Angel Rivera (Caguas, Puerto Rico).

Lancer closer senior Parker Bigelow (Leominster, Mass.) then was able to get Fisher sophomore John Batista (Lawrence, Mass.) to line into a double play to preserve the win for Worcester State.

WSU sophomore Cole Glassburn (Hopkinton, Mass.) picked up the win in relief as the right-hander tossed three innings allowing four runs (all earned) on five hits while striking out three. Bigelow earned his second save of the season after allowing one hit in his inning of work.

Galan fell to 4-1 on the year as he gave up three runs (all earned) on two hits while walking two, hitting one and striking out one. Senior starter Johann Doerrer (Dolgeville, N.Y.) pitched the first seven innings allowing four runs (all earned) on eight hits and striking out two. Freshman Fernando Ortiz (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) pitched a scoreless eighth for the Falcons.

Offensively Fisher pounded out ten hits as Hernandez led way finishing 2-for-4 with three RBI, a double and a home run. Batista also collected two hits as he went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and Santiago picked up a two hit opener on his 2-for-4 with a RBI afternoon. Junior Nicholas Lucchese (Long Island, N.Y.) went 2-for-5 in the loss for Fisher.

Ausiello knocked in four RBI to lead the charge for Worcester State as he ended his game going 2-for-4. Sean Devin went 2-for-3 with a RBI and Brenton scored two runs on his 1-for-4 showing at the plate.

Game Two: Fisher College 7, Worcester State University 6 (Final)

Junior Elijah Perez (Lawrence, Mass.) came off the bench in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs, the scored tied at 6 and the winning run at second base only to line the second pitch he saw into the left-center gap for a walk off double to propel the Falcons to a thrilling 7-6 game two win to even the five game series.

In the fateful bottom of the ninth, senior Jonathan Rosado (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) led off with a walk and advanced to second on a single from Hernandez. After a strikeout, Worcester State summoned Bigelow from the pen to face Perez, who pinched hit for senior catcher Reynaldo Mejia (Lawrence, Mass.).

The Falcons jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after plating three in the first and single runs in the second and third. Senior Mitchell Lundholm (Plymouth, Mass.), J. Rosado, Batista, Santiago and Mejia all recorded RBIs through the first three frames.

Worcester State answered in the fifth with six unearned runs off Fisher starter Norberto Ceballos (Loiza, Puerto Rico). Senior Pat Galvin (Shrewsbury, Mass.) laced a two RBI single up the middle with two outs to make it 5-2 and a run scored on an errant throw to make it 5-3. Breton then singled through the right side to score Galvin as the Lancers crept closer at 5-4. After a pitching change, Worcester State scratched for another run on a Devin single to left to tie the game at five before taking the lead on a wild pitch.

That would be all the Lancers would manage to score as sophomore Angel Alicea (Caguas, Puerto Rico) slammed the door shut. The hard-throwing right-hander pitched the final 4.1 innings of one-hit baseball while striking out eight. Ceballos pitched effectively over the first 4.2 innings as he gave up six runs (all unearned) on four hits while striking out six.

WSU freshman Cameron Taubert (South Yarmouth, Mass.) suffered the loss as he was responsible for the winning run in the ninth. The righty allowed one run on one hit and struck out one during his 0.2 inning of work. Senior Chris Elliot (Plymouth, Mass.) got the start on the mound and surrendered five runs (three earned) on nine hits over four innings. Sophomore Kevin Zarnoch Jr. (Boston, Mass.) was brilliant in relief as he limited the Falcons to just one unearned run on three hits and striking out six.

Fisher recorded another 10+ hit game as they finished with 14, led by three-hit games from Santiago and Lucchese. Hernandez went 2-for-4 in the nightcap and junior Victor Torres (Rochester, N.Y.) finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored, including the game tying run in the eighth on Lucchese's RBI single.

Galvin was just 1-for-2 with a RBI but walked three times to guide the Lancer attack. Breton and Devin added RBI singles finishing 1-for-4, respectively, while Ausiello ended his night at 1-for-3 along with freshman Tom Halliwell (Leominster, Mass.).

These two teams will return to action tomorrow afternoon in the rubber-match of the five-game series at Fraser Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3pm with live stats and video available on FisherFalcons.com.
