STANDISH, MAINE – For the first time in program history, the Fisher College Baseball team played Saint Joseph's College in Maine this afternoon as they fell to the Monks, 10-6. The loss sends the Falcons to an overall record of 22-9 while Saint Joseph's improves to 13-10. This was the fifth overall meeting between the two successful programs. Fisher earned two wins earlier this season while Saint Joseph's took the first two matchups back in 2002.

The Monks got on the board in the second inning as they crossed the plate four times, highlighted by senior Kevin Aylward (East Bridgewater, Mass.) three-run home run to left. However, the Falcons immediately answered with a five-run third inning to take the 5-4 lead. That would be short lived as Saint Joseph's scored two runs in the fourth, three in the fifth and an insurance run in the seventh for the 10-6 final. In total, the Monks belted three home runs on the afternoon as both seniors Hunter Richardson (North Monmouth, Maine) and Luke Johnson (East Hampton, Conn.) connected on the deep ball.

Freshman Ivanuel Hernandez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) was the offensive star for Fisher as he finished 2-for-4 with a RBI. Junior Jacob Deziel (Merrimac, Mass.) knocked in two RBI on his 1-for-5 night and freshman Dennis Santiago (Orlando, Fla.) picked up a RBI as he finished 1-for-4. Senior Jonathan Rosado (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) was 0-for-3 in the contest but lifted a sacrifice fly for a RBI in the third inning.

Freshman left-hander Andres Meletiche (Guayanilla, Puerto Rico) was touched up this afternoon as he allowed eight runs (seven earned) on eleven hits over his four innings of work. Sophomore Angel Rivera (Caguas, Puerto Rico) struck out the only two batters he faced in the fifth before Fernando Ortiz (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) allowed an earned run in his 0.1 innings pitched. Senior Jose Galan (Alta, Puerto Rico) closed out the ballgame with three innings of three-hit ball, surrendering just one run while striking out four.

For Saint Joseph's, sophomore Anthony Esposito (Orange, Conn.) earned his first win of the season with two innings of no-hit baseball, allowing one run. Richardson then secured his second save of the year with three innings on the mound and giving up just two hits. Offensively, the 15-hit attack was led by grad-student Ben Gravel (Rochester, N.H.) and junior Ronald Chisholm (North Chatham, Mass.), who each collected three hits. Alyward and Johnson finished with three RBI each with Richardson collecting two RBI.

Fisher will be back at it tomorrow evening as they travel to New Haven, Connecticut for a double-header at Albertus Magnus College. Game one is slated to start at 5pm. Saint Joseph's will host Anna Maria College in a conference double-header on Thursday afternoon beginning at 2pm.
