HAMDEN, CONN. – The Fisher College Baseball team took home a split this evening as they fell to Albertus Magnus College, 5-4 in game one before winning the finale 10-2. Fisher is now 23-10 on the season while Albertus Magnus slides to 3-5.

Game One: Albertus Magnus College 5, Fisher College 4 (Final)

A pair of two-run home runs was not enough in the opener as Fisher dropped game one, 5-4 to Albertus Magnus.

It was a solid pitching performance from junior right-hander Christian Dow (Rochester, N.H.), who allowed just one unearned run over the first four frames. In the fifth, he was touched up for three runs on a three-run homer from Albertus senior Justen Rodriguez (Waterbury, Conn.). Dow finished the ballgame allowing 4 runs (three earned) on six hits and struck out seven. Sophomore Angel Alicea (Caguas, Puerto Rico) was credited with the loss (5-3) as he allowed a run (unearned) to score in the sixth inning.

Trailing 1-0 entering the fifth inning, Fisher was able to take the lead as freshman Dennis Santiago (Orlando, Fla.) connected for his 2nd home run of the season, a blast to deep left field for a 2-1 Fisher advantage. After losing the lead in the home half of the fifth, Fisher answered right back to tie the game at 4-4 as sophomore Reynaldo Vega (Aguada, Puerto Rico) belted his first home run of the season in the sixth. That would account for all the scoring from the Fisher offense.

Albertus saw senior Matt Warren (Wolcott, Conn.) finish 3-for-4 with a double and Rodriguez ended his game going 1-for-3 with the 3-run home run. Freshman Nick Kownack (Schenectady, N.Y.) picked up the win in relief as he pitched the sixth inning. Classmate Tyler Baldwin (Cromwell, Conn.) was able to escape the jam in the seventh as he ended the game on a strikeout with runners at second and third for his first save of the season.

Game Two: Fisher College 10, Albertus Magnus College 2 (Final)

Junior Johann Doerrer (Dolgeville, N.Y.) earned his first win of the season and the bats came alive with a five-run sixth inning as Fisher earned a game two 10-2 win and a split of the road double-header at Albertus Magnus College.

Doerrer was efficient as he pitched five innings, allowing one unearned run on seven hits and striking out four as the right-hander threw just 84 pitches. Sophomore Angel Rivera (Caguas, Puerto Rico) and freshman Garrett Kingston (Tewksbury, Mass.) each tossed an inning to close out the contest. Kingston allowed one unearned run on two hits while Rivera struck out two of the four batters he faced.

Senior Jonathan Rosado (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) went a perfect 4-for-4 while classmate Mitchell Lundholm (Plymouth, Mass.) added two RBI on sacrifice flies to pace the 10-run, 10-hit attack. Vega continued his good day at the plate as he knocked in three RBI and Santiago finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Senior Reynaldo Mejia (Lawrence, Mass.) added a RBI on his 1-for-3 evening in the team's 23rd win of the season.

Albertus received RBI singles from sophomore Caden Cloutier (Wallingford, Conn.) and junior Eduardo Perez (Hamden, Conn.) to tally the two runs that AMC got across the plate. Rodriguez finished 3-for-3 before being pinch-hit for by Perez in the seventh. Sophomore Vincent Gualtieri (Norwich, Conn.) went 2-for-3 in the loss. Classmate Ricardo Torres (New Haven, Conn.) was credited with the loss after he allowed two runs (both earned) in his 1.1 innings of work.

Fisher will be back in action this weekend with a four-game Patriot Day weekend series with Bryant and Stratton College – Albany. The two teams will have a double-header in Albany, N.Y. on Sunday afternoon (1pm) before playing the final two on Monday afternoon (1pm) at Fraser Field in Lynn, Massachusetts. Albertus Magnus will also be in action this weekend with a four-game conference set at Johnson & Wales University (R.I.).
