LYNN, MASS. – The Fisher College Baseball team defeated Worcester State University this afternoon to earn the five-game series win with an impressive 22-4 final. The Falcons are now 22-8 on the year while the Lancers fall to 8-3.

Fisher broke a 3-3 tied ballgame with an eight run third inning and finished with a pair of four-run frames in the 6th and 7th. In total, the team belted out 19 hits on the afternoon, including a three-run home run from junior Jordan Gosselin (Rochester, N.H.). Gosselin went 1-for-1 in the contest with his first career homer, a deep shot to left field, which capped off the scoring for Fisher.

Junior Nicholas Lucchese (Long Island, N.Y.) went 3-for-4 with three RBI and senior Jonathan Rosado (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) also picked up three RBI on his 2-for-4 afternoon. Junior Victor Torres (Rochester, N.Y.) finished 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI while senior Braxten Ramirez (Amarillo, Texas) came off the bench to drive in two runs as he ended his afternoon going 1-for-2. Also driving in a pair of RBI was junior Jacob Deziel (Merrimac, Mass.), whose two-RBI triple to right-center in the third gave the Falcons the lead for good.

Freshman Michael Gonzalez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) made his collegiate debut on the mound for Fisher as the young right-hander allowed three runs (all earned) on three hits in 1.2 innings of work with two strikeouts. Fellow freshman Garrett Kingston (Tewksbury, Mass.) was credited with the win, the first of his career, as he tossed two scoreless innings allowing just one hit.

Worcester State sophomore Brett Bucklin (Lynn, Mass.) fell to 0-1 as he allowed eight runs (all earned) on seven hits while striking out one in his 2.1 innings pitched as the Lancer starter. Junior Kyle Cravatis (Beverly, Mass.) and freshman Cameron Taubert (South Yarmouth, Mass.) were the only two WSU relievers to not allow runs as they combined for 2.2 innings of one-hit baseball.

Junior Joe Rogato (Methuen, Mass.) led the way offensively for Worcester State as he finished the ballgame 2-for-2 with a RBI. The Lancers also received RBIs from sophomore Zack Roberts (Northbridge, Mass.), who was 2-for-4, senior Pat Galvin (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and junior Sean Devin (Lynn, Mass.). Galvin, Devin and senior Jake Breton (Wilbraham, Mass.) all registered base hits to account for the seven hits Worcester State recorded in the loss.

Fisher will enjoy the weekend off as they prepare for their next scheduled contest at Saint Joseph's College (Maine) on Tuesday, April 13. Game time is set for 4pm in Standish, Maine. Worcester State will host Westfield State University on April 17th for a conference double-header.
