GWINETT, GA. – The Association of Independent Institutions announced this afternoon that Fisher College sophomore John Batista (Lawrence, Mass.) was selected as the A.I.I. Baseball Hitter of the Week.

Batista helped bolster the Fisher offense this week as the team went 4-2 over their final games in New England. The veteran outfielder batted .438 (7-for-16) with four extra base hits, including two triples and his 5th home run of the season. Batista knocked in six RBI and scored five runs over the six-game week for the Falcons. Defensively, the right-fielder recorded eight putouts and an assist. He finished with a slash line of .438 (AVG)/.938 (SLG)/.500 (OBP).
He becomes the second member of the Falcon baseball program to be named A.I.I. Baseball Hitter of the Week following freshman Dennis Santiago (Orlando, Fla.) who was honored on March 1st. This is the first time in his career that Batista has garnered Hitter of the Week accolades.

Batista and the rest of the Fisher College Baseball team will make the trip south this week as they get set to play six games against A.I.I. opponents. The Falcons will battle Georgia Gwinnett College and Talladega College over the weekend before a scheduled double-header with the Grizzlies on Tuesday 5/4 in preparation for the 2021 A.I.I. Tournament held at the Grizzlies Sports Complex.
