WINTER HAVEN, FLA. – Appearing in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Baseball Championships Opening Round for the first time in program history, the Fisher College Baseball team fell to the University of South Carolina-Beaufort, 7-4 in the Lakeland bracket. The Falcons are now 31-21 on the season while the Sand Sharks improve to 32-21.

Senior right-hander Johan Doerrer (Dolgeville, N.Y.) went the distance on the mound for Fisher. The veteran pitched all eight innings, allowing seven runs (all earned) on five hits while striking out four.

Offensively the Falcons were guided by junior Jordan Gosselin (Rochester, N.Y.), who collected three hits on his 3-for-4 performance with a RBI. Senior Jonathan Rosado (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) and junior Victor Torres (Rochester, N.Y.) each recorded base knocks in the contest for Fisher while senior Mitchell Lundholm (Plymouth, Mass.) finished 2-for-4 with a 2-run home run in the sixth.

The Sand Sharks made the most of their five hits as they hit a pair of three-run home runs off the bats of Leandy Castro and Kyran Russ.

Fisher will now play in an elimination game tomorrow morning at 11am against the loser between Middle Georgia State and Bryan. USC-Beaufort will battle top-seed and host Southeastern University at 7pm tonight.
