HENDERSON, TENN. – After an exhilarating and historic victory yesterday over #1 Georgia Gwinnett, the Fisher College Baseball team were shutout this evening against Freed-Hardeman University by a 7-0 final. The Falcons are now 9-7 on the season and the Lions, who are receiving votes for the NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll, improve to 15-5 overall in 2022.

Freshman William De Gracia (Canovanas, Puerto Rico) made his first career start and pitched effectively despite some early jitters. The left-hander allowed four runs, all unearned, and three hits over his three innings of work. De Gracia also struck out two and issued two walks. Sophomore Angel Colon (Boston, Mass.) tossed two frames surrendering two unearned runs on one hit before giving way to freshman Travis Traviza (Mayaguez, Puerto Rico). Traviza was brilliant over the final three innings as the young right-hander allowed one run on two hits and striking out four.

At the plate, the Falcons were only able to muster three hits against a tough FHU pitching staff. Senior Jacob Deziel (Merrimac, Mass.) went 2-for-3 with a double and classmate Victor Torres (Rochester, N.Y.) was 1-for-4 to account for all of the Fisher offense.

Freshman Wesley Culley (Arlington, Tenn.) picked up his second win of the season for the Lions as the left-hander tossed five innings of one-hit ball and striking out five. Juniors Luis Torres-Lopez (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Connor Creasy (Milan, Tenn.) pitched the final four innings to preserve the shutout for Freed-Hardeman.

On the offensive side for FHU, freshman Christian Presley (Cordova, Tenn.) went 1-for-3 with two RBI as the table setter for the Lion lineup. Classmate Mason Libla (Fairdealing, Mo.) provided the big blast, a solo home run in the eighth as he finished 2-for-4 with a RBI.

These two teams will close out the two-game series tomorrow afternoon. The original game time of 6pm EST has been moved up to 3pm EST due to forecasted rain late in the day.
