LYNN, MASS. – The Fisher College Baseball team returned to action this afternoon after a five-day break as they swept visiting Northern Vermont University-Lyndon, 2-0 and 4-1, in a double-header at Fraser Field. The pair of wins improve the Falcons to a 19-15 overall record while the two losses drop the Hornets to 2-13 in 2021.

Game One: Fisher College 2, NVU-Lyndon 0 (Final)

Senior Christian Dow (Rochester, N.H.) needed just 81 pitches as the right-hander tossed the complete game shutout in the afternoon's opening game. Dow was magnificent as he limited the Hornets to just two hits while striking out three over his seven innings of work while he improves to 4-2 on the season.

Sophomore Alejandro Sola (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) smashed a RBI triple to right-center in the second inning and classmate Emanuel Rosado (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) added an insurance RBI in the sixth to account for all of the scoring in the contest. Rosado finished the game going 2-for-3 with a RBI and run scored.

NVU-Lyndon freshman left-hander Carlos Rodriguez (La Mirada, Calif.) was also outstanding in his complete game effort. The California native surrendered two runs on seven hits while striking out five as he is now 1-4 on the year for the Hornets. Freshman John Mahoney (Navarre, Fla.) and senior Ryder Thornton (Essex, Vt.) collected the only two hits offensively in the setback.

Game Two: Fisher College 4, NVU-Lyndon 1 (Final)

Pitching once again was the theme for the Falcons in the nightcap as junior Ronald Luke (Malden, Mass.) tossed six strong innings in the 4-1 win for Fisher.

The southpaw scattered four hits and struck out three over the six frames as he improved to 5-2 on the season. The only blemish on Luke's outing was a first-inning home run surrendered to NVU-Lyndon freshman Skylar Bushey (St. Albans, Vt.). Sophomore William Carpenter (Brentwood, N.H.) picked up his team-leading fourth save with a 1-2-3 inning in the seventh.

Offensively the Falcons scored all four runs in the home half of the first inning, highlighted by a two RBI triple from senior Elijah Perez (Lawrence, Mass.). Sophomore Miguel Torres ( ) also recorded a RBI on a sacrifice fly and the other run was scored via a throwing error from the Hornets. Senior Nicholas Lucchese (Long Island, N.Y.) continues to remain red-hot at the plate as he was 2-for-3 in the win.

NVU-Lyndon freshman Jacob Wechselblatt (Reston, Va.) settled down after a rough first inning to get through five innings of work in the loss. The right-hander allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits and only struck out one. Sophomore Dylan Crump (Falls Village, Conn.) then spun a scoreless sixth to keep the Hornets within three heading into the seventh.

Bushey was just 1-for-3 with the solo shot to left and a strikeout. Thronton recorded the only two-hit performance on the day as he ended his nightcap 2-for-3. Senior TJ Santaw (Newport, Vt.) registered the other hit for NVU-Lyndon.

Fisher will hit the road this weekend with a trip out to Pittsburgh, Pa. for a scheduled three-game series with Point Park University. Game one is scheduled for 12pm on Sunday afternoon.
