LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. – After a late-night historic comeback, the magic ended this afternoon as the Fisher College Baseball team fell to top seed Georgia Gwinnett College in the Continental Athletic Conference championship game. The Grizzlies, who are currently ranked #4 in the NAIA Top 25 Coach's Poll, used an eleven run second inning to power their way to another conference title.

The Falcons, who secured the second automatic qualifier bid from the CAC in last night's win over Iowa Wesleyan, saw sophomore shortstop Jose Aybar (Santo Domingo, D.R.) finish 2-for-3 with a RBI to led the offensive effort. Classmate Coby Johnson (Wells, Maine), junior Miguel Torres (Villalba, Puerto Rico) and freshman Yariel Salinas (San Juan, Puerto Rico) also added RBIs in the contest. Freshman Jan Melendez (Yabucoa, Puerto Rico) was credited with the loss on the mound as the left-hander surrendered six runs (all earned) on two hits while walking two. In total, the Falcons used seven pitchers in the contest with all allowing at least one run or more.

Georgia Gwinnet was powered by a pair of four-hit efforts from Devin Warner and Braxton Meguiar. Meguiar finished with five RBI and Warner totaled four RBI in the win. Ben Weber earned the win in relief as he tossed two innings of one-hit ball while striking out three.

Graduate Tim Catalano (Brewster, N.Y.), junior Ivanuel Hernandez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) and sophomore Yadiel Cuadrado (Yabucoa, Puerto Rico) were all chosen to the 2023 CAC All-Tournament team following the conclusion of the championship game.

Both teams have qualified for the 2023 NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round being played next week, May 15-18 at one of ten predetermined sites. Georgia Gwinnett was selected as an Opening Round site and will be the #1 seed in the Lawrenceville Bracket. The Falcons will have to await the Selection Show scheduled for Thursday evening to find out where they will be traveling to and competing against. The ten bracket winners will then advance to the NAIA Avisita World Series in Lewiston, Idaho.
