WILLIAMSBURG, KY. – The Fisher College Baseball program wrapped up their four-game series this afternoon with the University of Cumberlands (Ky.). The Patriots, who are nationally ranked 8th in the NAIA Baseball Pre-Season Coaches Poll, captured game one by a 14-0 final before securing the nightcap, 3-1. Fisher is now 2-14 to start the season with the Patriots increasing their season record to 14-3.

Game One: #8 Cumberlands (Ky.) 14, Fisher 0 (FINAL/7-inn.)

Cumberland received a near perfect effort from starter Cesar Avila as the Patriots went on to win 14-0 in a run-shorted 7-inning contest. The right-handed issued just four walks as he tossed a complete game no-hitter with 13 strikeouts.

The Patriots scored seven runs in the first inning off of Fisher starter William De Gracia. The left-hander surrendered all seven runs on three hits and one walk as he falls to 2-3 on the season. Freshman Mario Silva (Pelham, N.H.) pitched a scoreless frame in the contest striking out two.

Charlie Muniz and Max Harper each belted home runs for the Patriots. Muniz finished 2-for-3 with three RBI and Johnboy Rittenhouse was a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBI.

Game Two: #8 Cumberlands (Ky.) 5, Fisher 1 (FINAL)

The Falcon offense remained mystified as they wrapped up the four-game set with a 5-1 loss to Cumberlands.

Trailing by a run in the top of the third, Sophomore Gabriel Rivera ( Fla.) belted a solo homer to lead off the frame and knot the game at 1-1. However, the Patriots stormed back and plated two runs in the home half of the inning and never looked back. Rivera finished the nightcap 1-for-3 with the solo homer and junior Ruben Rodriguez (Nashua, N.H.) was 1-for-1 with a pinch hit single.

Senior Ronald Luke (Malden, Mass.) suffered the loss for Fisher as the left-hander limited Cumberlands to just five runs (all earned) on eight hits while striking out four. A trio of relievers finished the contest, highlighted by junior Camden Redstone (Lee, Mass.) who struck-out all three hitters he faced in the sixth.

For the Patriots, Kailen Hamson tossed five inning of two-hit ball in relief to pick up his second win of the season. Hamson retired eight via the strikeout and issued one walk. Jose Valentin paced the offense with a 2-for-4 showing, including a solo homer in the fifth. Rittenhouse also finished 2-for-4 at the dish and Christian Thompson added his own 2-for-4 performance to account for the multi-hit nights in the Patriot order.
