LYNN, MASS. – The wins keep coming for the Fisher College Baseball program as they finished the three-game sweep of the University of Maine-Presque Isle this afternoon, 3-1 and 9-0 inside the confines of Fraser Field. The pair of victories push the Falcons to an overall record of 11-17 while the Owls fall to 1-9.

Game One: Fisher College 3, Maine-Presque Isle 1 (Final)

In what turned out to be a pitchers' duel, it was senior Ronald Luke (Malden, Mass.) who came out on top as the Falcons earned a game one victory by a 3-1 final.

Luke was magnificent as he picked up the complete game win, allowing just one run (earned) on six hits and striking out 11. The veteran left-handed had a shutout going until the Owls pushed a run across with two outs in the seventh.

Maine-Presque Isle right-hander Payton Jones limited the Falcons to just three runs (two earned) on four hits over his complete game, six-inning effort.

Fisher plated single runs in the first, second, and sixth. Freshman Jatnier Torres (Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico) scored the first run after an errant throw from the catcher on his steal of third went into left field in the first. Fellow freshman Alejandro Villar (Miami, Fla.) then brought home the final two runs. IN the second, he hit a fielder's choice to right which scored sophomore Gabriel Rivera (Miramar, Fla.). Then in the sixth, Villar brought home senior Emanuel Rosado (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) on a base hit past the diving second baseman.

Villar finished 1-for-3 with the 2 RBI. Torres and Rosado were both 1-for-2 in the contest with Rivera adding the other hit on his 1-for-3 showing at the dish.

UMPI leadoff hitter Joey Lippo went 2-for-4 with the RBI base hit in the seventh. Joey Blake, Garrett Chadwick, Anthony Searles, and Ricardo Garcia all reached safely with base hits in the loss.

Game Two: Fisher College 9, Maine-Presque Isle 0 (Final)

The Fisher pitching staff once again showcased their talents in the series finale as three Falcons combined on a one-hitter in the 9-0 victory.

Junior Yadiel Cuadrado (Yabucoa, Puerto Rico) was dominate over his five innings of work. The left-hander allowed just one hit while striking out eight. Fellow left-handers junior William De Gracia (Canovanas, Puerto Rico) and sophomore Jan Melendez (Yabucoa, Puerto Rico) each struck out two in their one-inning of work, respectively.

Offensively, the bats awoke in the finale as the team pounded out 13 hits. Junior Jeremy Renta (Caguas, Puerto Rico) paced the attack as he went 3-for-3 with 3 RBI. Sophomore Armando Torres (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico) set the table going 2-for-4 with a RBI from the leadoff spot. Villar finished his afternoon with a 2-for-3 performance and both freshman Samuel Ramos (St. Cloud, Fla.) and Carlos Rosa (San Juan, Puerto Rico) recorded their first career collegiate hits in the contest.

Anthony Searles recorded the lone hit for the Owls, a clean single through the left side in the second inning. Jonah Baude went the distance on the mound surrendering nine runs (all earned) on 13 hits and striking out five.

Fisher will return to action on Sunday afternoon as they host the University of Maine-Farmington. The double-header contest with start at 3:30pm from Fraser Field.
