Baseball: Carmona named CAC Pitcher of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. – The Continental Athletic Conference announced earlier this morning that Fisher College freshman Joziel Carmona has been selected as the conference's Pitcher of the Week.

Carmona had a victory and a save on the mound as the Falcons swept a four-game weekend series against Vermont State University Lyndon. The Comerio, Puerto Rico native picked up his second career save in the series opener, a 4-2 victory, by striking out one opposing hitter during his inning of relief. The right-hander followed that outing by working a 1-2-3 seventh inning to preserve the tie-game by striking out two as the Falcons came back in the home half for a wild walk-off victory on Sunday.

This is the second consecutive week that a member of the Fisher College Baseball program has earned CAC Pitcher of the Week honors (Yadiel Cuadrado, Week Six). The Falcons will begin a three-game series with the University of Maine-Presque Isle on Thursday evening with first pitch scheduled for 7pm from Fraser Field.
