LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. – The Fisher College Baseball fell in the opening contest of the 2025 Continental Athletics Conference tournament to the host institution Georgia Gwinnett College, 10-0 in a shortened 7-inning affair. The loss sends the Falcons to the first elimination game tomorrow afternoon at 2pm while the Grizzlies will play in the 11am contest.
It was a tough day at the plate for Fisher as they managed only one-hit off of GGC starter Anthony Patterson. Senior Michael Wright (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) broke up the no-hitter with a two-out flare to center field in the top of the seventh. Patterson finished with a complete game shutout, registering nine strikeouts and allowing one walk.
Junior Jan Melendez (Yabucoa, Puerto Rico) was credited with the loss as he surrendered six runs (all earned) on three hits while issuing three walks and not recording a strikeout. A quartet of relievers finished the contest for the Falcons with junior Maylo Sierra (Bartlesville, Okla.) the lone pitcher to not allow a run.
