LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. – The Fisher College Baseball used a complete game performance from senior Vance Serrano (Las Vegas, Nev.) as they defeated Florida National University, 14-3 in a mercy-shortened elimination game at the 2025 Continental Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament. The Falcons advance to play Spartanburg Methodist College tomorrow morning at 11am.
Serrano, a 2025 CAC All-Conference First-Team selection, proved his ace status as the right-hander dominated the Conquistador lineup after the first inning. The veteran allowed three runs in the first inning (all earned) and zeros the rest of the way for a 7-inning effort. Serrano surrendered only four hits while striking out four and walking three to give his team a chance to win the game.
Backing the effort on the mound was the approach at the plate for the Falcons. They tallied 14 runs on 15 hits, led by a 3-for-4 afternoon from junior Gabriel Rivera (Miramar, Fla.). Fisher exploded for eight two-out runs in the home half of the first inning and did not look back. Juniors Yariel Salinas (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and Gilbert Gomez (Santo Domingo, D.R.) went 2-for-4 with three RBI each and senior Ruben Rodriguez (Nashua, N.H.) added a pair of RBI on his 2-for-4 showing at the dish.
Florida National saw Erick Rodriguez go 2-for-3 to lead their offensive effort along with getting RBI hits from Adrian Roman, Christopher Rivera, and Ismark Gonzalez in the first inning. FNU starter Alexis Dubeau was handed the loss as the left-hander gave up eight runs (all earned) on six hits in just one inning of work.
The losers bracket championship game was originally scheduled to be played this evening at 5pm. However, due to the severe weather coming across the area, the game was pushed to tomorrow morning at 11am (the originally scheduled championship game slot). The winner will remain at the Grizzly Baseball complex for the championship game at 3pm.
