Shular, Falcons Win Fourth Consecutive Game

The Fisher Falcons jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in route to their fourth victory is as many games with a win Friday night against the University of Maine-Machias. The Falcons won the up tempo affair 114-80 and improved their record to 10-7 while the visiting Clippers dropped to 7-4.

The Falcons used the three ball to their advantage knocking down 10 in the first half and 8 in the second half.

The Falcons held a 61-40 halftime advantage after shooting 23-of-42 (54.8%) from the field, including 10-of-17 (58.8%) from behind the arc. Tyler Shular had a game high 18 points after the first 20 minutes while Malik Wilson (13pts), Kyle Holmes (11pts) and Brodric Smith (11pts) also reached double-figures.

Each team collected 22 rebounds in the opening frame but the Falcons held a decisive 16-10 assist lead and forced eight turnovers while only surrounding four of their own.

The game continued its electric pace in the second half with the teams trading baskets for most of opening five minutes. However, the Falcons held off any notion of a Maine-Machias comeback on the heels of Shular who finished with a game high 31 points.

Holmes (23pts), Wilson (21pts), and Brodric Smith (11pts) and were the other Falcons who finished in double-figures.

Shular, who is the program's second all-time leading scorer is averaging 20.6 points per game this season, 27th best in the NAIA.

The 114 point outburst was the teams highest of the season, surpassing the 104 points scored in a victory of Johnson and Wales (RI) on December 14th.

The Falcons return to action Tuesday evening when they travel to Vaughn College for a 7:00PM tip-off. The matchup with Vaughn is part of a men's and women's doubleheader.
