Falcons Slip Past Hornets

LYNN, Mass. – The Lyndon State College men's basketball team fell in nonconference action Tuesday night to Fisher College, 71-67.

The Hornets were led by Charles Correa Jr. who finished with 20 points and five rebounds.  Raymond Monroe added 12 points while Dawda Jallow pulled down eight rebounds.

Kyle Holmes led the Falcons with a game-high 25 points and seven rebounds.  Darrell Grady chipped in 15 points while Brodric Smith added 11.

Fisher built a 34-27 lead in the first half on the back of 14 points from Holmes.

Lyndon picked up the defensive intensity early in the second stanza, coming up with multiple stops while converting on the offensive end.  Three triples from Kendrick Mills helped Lyndon erase the deficit and take the lead.

The Hornets continued to work with a lead until the Falcons went on a run of their own to tie up the game late in the second half.

A three from Cooper Neal gave the Falcons the boost they needed with just minutes remaining.  Unable to make things happen on the offensive end, the Hornets were forced to foul with the time winding down.  The Falcons knocked down the free ones to keep the Hornets at bay, taking the game 71-67.

Lyndon (1-2) returns to play at home on December 1 at 5:30 p.m. against Plymouth St.

Fisher (4-1) also hits the court on December 1, hosting Vaughn College at 7:00 p.m. at the Fecteau-Leary Gymnasium in Lynn, Mass.
