Chestnut Hill, Mass. -- The Fisher College men's basketball team improves to 16-8 after taking an 81-69 victory from the Pine Manor College Gators. Pine Manor remains unscathed with the loss keeping a winning record of 15-7.
The Falcons fell quickly to the Gators 5-0, senior Malik Wilson hit four straight points to put the Falcons on the board. The Falcons were able to tie the game at 14-points with a layup and a free throw made by Brodric Smith. Pine Manor went on a 12-0 run to take a 26-14 lead over the Falcons with just under 10:00 minutes left to play in the first half.
Darrell Grady hit a layup at the buzzer, but it wasn't enough to help the Falcons prevail in the first half as they went into the break down 43-28.
After the break, the Falcons opened the second half with a 14-0 run to bring the score within one point 43-42. Fisher took their first lead of the game 46-45 on a made layup by Kyle Holmes. Pine Manor took their last lead of the game leading the Falcons 51-49, but the Falcons then went on an 11-0 run to take a 59-51 lead over the Gators.
The Falcons only allowed the Gators to score 10 points in the remaining 7:51 of the game. Fisher added 22 points in the remaining time to finalize the score at 81-69.
Wilson paced the Falcons with a double-double including 24 points and 17 rebounds. Holmes added 18 points and 7 boards. Other key Falcons were Brodric Smith (12 points, 4 rebounds) and Cooper Neal (12 points, 8 rebounds).
